2. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY DEPARTMENT

In the knowledge-based global economy, Intellectual Property has become the cornerstone of successful businesses. Our Intellectual Property Department recognizes that scientific and product development advances are critical to our clients' growth, and that protecting these advances is a matter of survival. Capitalizing on recently enacted legislations on Intellectual Property Rights and international protection of Intellectual Property Rights, our Intellectual Property counsel provide legal services relating to registration of Patents, Trade Marks, Service Marks, Domain Names, Protection of Trade Secrets, Proprietary Information. We also provide counsel on copyright questions, negotiations and preparations of licensing and technical Agreements. 3. TAXATION DEPARTMENT

This department has specialized expertise. It provides clients with sophisticated tax planning, compliance and controversy advice. Our counsel work closely with clients to maximize and preserve tax benefits, reduce tax risks and assure compliance with the myriad of complex and ever-changing tax laws and Regulations. We advise business and other clients in planning for a broad range of transactions, including financing and choice of entities, mergers and acquisitions, sales and exchanges to mention but a few. 4. LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT

Our Labour and Employment department uses its specialized expertise to provide an integrated approach to the full range of human resource legal issues. Through  consultancy, client counseling and training programmes for managerial and supervisory personnel on employment law issues, our counsel focus on anticipating and preventing labour relations problems, and assisting clients in resolving the problems before they result in litigation.

Our counsel work with clients on union issues, assist clients with collective bargaining with labour organizations and assist in the administration of collective bargaining agreements. We appear on behalf of clients in industrial related proceedings before the Industrial Court.

5. LITIGATION DEPARTMENT

Our litigation department has the ability to handle multi-faceted litigation matters in virtually any jurisdiction nationwide. Each of our highly skilled trial counsel offers specific expertise in one or more specially practice areas. Our litigators are also experienced appellate counsel who have appeared successfully before the Court of Appeal of Tanzania, High Court of Tanzania as well as the High Court of Zanzibar. The department prides itself on its proven ability in the courtroom and its capacity to respond immediately and effectively to any dispute in any forum. While the departments' trial counsel have been trained and are highly skilled as general courtroom litigators, each has developed expertise in one or more special practice group within the department, each of which is devoted to providing complete and current litigation expertise in a particular area of substantive law.
